Community Activities Committee

Background and Committee Responsibilities

 

The Community Activities Committee organizes and produces HOA sponsored activities throughout the year including front gate Christmas decorations, a Community Garage Sale,  a children’s Easter egg hunt, the  Breast Cancer Walk, traditional Halloween activities and Block Parties.

 

The residents of Cape Royal are invited to participate in each and every event, many at no cost.  Volunteers for each event are always welcomed.  Please contact the Chairperson of the event you are interested in.

 

Traditional Halloween activities - Get ready and join us for part or all of the Spooky Halloween festivities on Halloween night.

5:00 - 6:00 pm Kids In Costume Eat Free at Caloosa Club. Glow sticks will be available at the clubhouse

6:00 - 8:00 pm Trick or Treat Hours in Cape Royal – turn outside lights on, if participating

     

Block Parties – a great way to meet your neighbors and learn more about all Cape Royal has to offer.   Held periodically throughout the year.   Chairperson:  Jacquie Flenniken

Residents are invited to come out for a meet and greet.  In addition to meeting your neighbors, the HOA board will introduce themselves and provide details about the community and talk about how you can get involved.

 

Front Gate Christmas Decorations - Chairs Jessica and Dick Wojtukiewicz will once again lead us in decorating our community spaces for the holidays and are looking for volunteers to help put them up in early December and take them down in early January.

 

Community Wide Garage and Bake Sale - held the first Saturday of March.  Chairperson:  Jacquie Flenniken

There are no fees to participate and money you make, is yours to keep.  The Cape Royal Community Foundation also has it's charity bake sale at this time.  They ask for donations and volunteers to bake to help raise money for this charity. 

 

Easter Egg Hunt - held the Saturday before Easter

Children, grandchildren or any child ages 1-11, visiting Cape Royal for Easter are welcome.  Includes photographs with the Easter Bunny, games, dances, prizes, face painting, lots of clowns and our singing chicken.

 

Breast Cancer Walk – Held in the Fall during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.   Chairperson:  Carol Maurath

The Cape Royal “A Circle of Friends” Team walks to support the "American Cancer Society (ACS) - Making Strides Against Breast Cancer,” in support of ACS’s goal of increasing awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research related to the cause, diagnosis and cure.  The walk is the showcase event of what has become a wide variety of fundraising events supported by the entire Cape Royal Community.

Other Committee Responsibilities include the following:

  • Understand the issues relative to its scope responsibilities by communicating with the BOD and HOA membership.

  • Develop and manage the approved annual Budget.

  • Develop tactical plans specific to the budget, committee plans and objectives.

  • Execute plans utilizing project management skills.

  • Manage BOD approved 3rd party contracts.

  • Periodically assess future requirements of the Committee’s long range planning and communicating to the Board.
